I would like to mention that fish was a food that we have evidence for in at least some temples was forbidden as an "impure" food for priests to eat. so it is possible it would not have been allowed as an offering either - at least in some temples from which we have this "priestly negative confession" source of evidence. just something to think about!

Interesting. If fish offerings were permitted in some temples but not in others, we should leave a few in as a talking point.

If we know they were permitted in no temples, and we should remove them.

If their presence is controversial, we should leave them out in educational uses of the temple, but retain the ability to put them back in or "switch them on" easily. Then we can use them as a visual prop in discussions with archaeologists discussing the point.
