so here are two images of the wall in question. With the original reference materials it was proving hard to get the higher level of detail were were looking for.
so what I had to do is take the inscriptions from one of are other source images, but we are not what the text means so we cant be sure if its appropriate.
It's still a bit hard to read in unity even with the new copy but it is possible to make out symbols, a person who able to read it they might note it was inappropriate, also that it repeats over and over.

what are your thoughts as to if this will matter to much.

Dave H.

Julia, Dave is saying that the hieroglyphics above and below Osiris' arm in the reworked image from another photograph and wants to know if its historically appropriate. Also the pattern below the image. The original is at:

Dave, where did you get those new hieroglyphics? Visually, they look good and are readable.

Also Dave and Yelena , are you working from the images taken from the old UT2004 temple which you should have found in Billy's folder, or the original originals shown here? The original in Dave's posting looks like an export from UT2004, but the texture you were working on the other day definitely looked like an original photo.

I know I referred you to this collection, but I have a bad feeling I did not explicitly point out which images are important. I list them here: viewtopic.php?p=651#p651

The ultimate solution is to have Kerry Handron at the CMNH (Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh) send a student to the Hunt Library at CMU and take a new photograph of the front scene. We would have to justify the expense, though.

Dave, this is the image I took the engravings from (top center)

http://publicvr.info/egypt/source/MedHa ... abu-22.jpg

also the art at the very bottom was swiped for thus image.

but going through the other images I have also found the engraving
in this photo might be a good swap if the others will not do.

the fold in the page makes it very hard to clean up the original, but it may still be possible

Hi - sorry for the late reply, I am still getting used to the forum format. But here is another image of the smiting Pharaoh. This is a very important image and is iconographic of ancient Egyptian kingship. I think that it is very important to fully express the image here on the pylon (gateway) of the temple. This would have been very standard. As is, the image does not really show the Pharaoh smiting the foreign enemies - the enemies are kind of cut out of the image. This is another image that might help in that respect. It is from Karnak Temple during the reign of Thutmoses III, found in Complete Temple of Ancient Egypt.

Hi Julia,

I fixed most of the damage and started coloring the texture for the front of the temple today. Jeff has said to leave the small hieroglyphics without color but the rest I got mostly colored in. Could you look through what is there and let me know what needs to be fixed?

I also have a couple of questions. What are the colors for what the Pharaoh is holding and the weapon in Horus's hand? Also, what colors, if any, should I use for the people in the middle?

Thanks,
Yelena~

Yelena, You still need to color in the enemies of Egypt, which will take some effort, and a number of the larger hieroglyphics too. It's looking really good, though! We have images of foreigners you can use for colors, which I'll show you on Tuesday.

How much of the smaller glyphs we keep will depend on how we fit the image onto the front Plyon. We'll figure that out on Tuesday.
